Mittens

I'm sorry to go so long without posting, and I'm even sorrier to resurface in such a state as this.

By the time most of you read this, my cat, Mittens, who's been with us for 16 wonderful years, will be gone.

I was looking through a few pages of sketches from Winter Break, and spotted a few sketches of animals - dogs, birds, and cats, and I realized, as dramaqueenlike as it sounds, that whenever I draw cats, I draw Mittens. That's how long she's been with me - how much she means to me.

I decided to let out a little a lot of grief and try to preserve her as she always was in my mind, in the only way I know how. It's no proper way to memorialize someone who's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, but it's the best I can do.

You were more than I ever deserved from a pet, and I hope I'll have the chance to see you again someday.

I love you, Mittens - my Fuzzybutt, my Monster-Kitty, my Kliban Cat, my Grumpy Old Lady.
